Per the recently updated restrictions for retail stores in the city of Chicago and the state of Illinois, Unabridged Bookstore will continue to operate with limited capacity for in-store shopping. Masks are required for all who enter the store, and we encourage social distancing while browsing. At checkout, we have installed screens to limit contact between customers and staff. We encourage all customers who are able to place orders online or by phone for pickup at the front door, for curbside pickup, or to have orders shipped. Feel free to call or email with any questions!

Often if they do not have a book they're able to order one. They are very accommodating and have an amazing selection

Hi Anthony! We do, but at present you can't purchase them on our website. You can either call the shop and purchase one for us to send to you via USPS or swing by the shop to buy one in person. Our phone number is 773.883.9119.

Hi Vern, Thanks for your inquiry! I'm afraid we don't have that book in stock, and our wholesaler doesn't have any on their shelves, either. Because it's a university press book and it's a little older, I recommend going directly to the publisher (Johns Hopkins University Press) to find one.

Not at all. We are actually putting in new flooring but the store remains open. Actually this year and the last two years have been the best in 37 years. We very much appreciate the support of our customers and our community.
