Call local post office where your appointment is...?
They want you to personally hand it to your carrier I was told
You can buy postage for a single piece of mail (not a stamp) at it. But, I think the minimum was 3 stamps last time I tried to do it. The postage works practically the same. Except it has to be used that day because it's dated, unlike a stamp.
Is the lobby open 24 hrs a day?
Their sign say opens at 9 am, Mon thru Sat.
I've heard of them doing something like this, with mail, when you first move to an area and don't have an address yet. I'm not sure if they do it for packages or for people with an established address. I'd call or go in to ask. I'm sure you'd still pay shipping to send it to the other office tho.
It can vary day-to-day. If they do get on a schedule it can change due to weather, an over abundance of mail, or a temp mail person. If you do get lucky enough to have some sort of a schedule it can change again if you get a new mail person. Unfortunately, the post office won't be able to tell you what time they'll be at your house either. If you're new to the neighborhood and want to know, ask a neighbor, they may have an idea :)
