Lisa took a generous amount of time to talk with me about everything going on in my body. She is very knowledgeable and intuitive in providing MFR therapy. Her space is comfortable, clean and quiet and she is professional and friendly. I left feeling a lot better and can’t wait to go back. I made the mistake of initially only booking a 30 minute treatment and really didn’t want to leave after 30 minutes! Next time I will do one hour for sure. I highly recommend Lisa as a therapist.

Alchemy Massage and Bodyworks was a great experience and helped a lot with my lower back pain. Lisa is the owner and practitioner of the establishment, she has a great personality and is very knowledgeable. I would recommend her business to anyone searching for a massage therapist!

Lisa, you are wonderful! You are caring, knowledgeable and passionate about your profession! You take time with your client to understand the issues, explain what to expect and make recommendations to changing one’s behavior in order to maintain long time results. My session was comfortable and relaxing. I felt a renewed energy and flexibility that I haven’t had in quite some time. I’m couldn’t be happier with the results I’m experiencing as my body begins to heal. Thank you.

Questions & Answers

Do you do regular massage with the MFR session?

There are many massage therapists who do bits and pieces of MFR during a standard massage session. I choose not to do it that way. Doing a full 60 or 90 minute session of MFR with focus and intent on the areas of pain and those that cause the pain is, in my mind, a more effective approach, if pain reduction/removal is your goal. MFR does not use lotion, oil or cream as we are giving compression and tension into an area. If the area is already treated with a lubricating product, it becomes more difficult to create the compression and tension needed to affect the fascial system into releasing and reducing/eliminating pain.

What makes Myofascial Release different from regular massage?

All bodywork is good for the body, mind and soul. Each one is therapeutic. Myofascial Release does not use cream or lotion and the client can be fully clothed on the massage table. Shorts and t-shirt are preferred, though. Instead of focusing on muscle, MFR focuses on the fascia, the body's connective tissue. Many times those unexplained aches and pains are in the fascial system. Standard massage doesn't have the focus to affect the fascial system for a long enough period to affect change.

Is Myofascial Release painful?

Everyone responds differently to bodywork. Usually there is no pain and most people fall asleep on the massage table. However, there is sometimes discomfort. You are always in control of the session, so if the discomfort is too intense, simply communicate that and we will find another way to address the situation.

How long is an average session?

Most sessions are 60 minutes, but there are 30 minute and 90 minute options available.
