So reading the other comments about this church made me think about when I was homeless a year ago. I was homeless and a addict at the time. It was my husband and myself and we had nowhere to go and a friend mentioned this church to us. And told us that it was a safe place to go to and to sleep at night we're no harm will come to us and no one would bother us. I read one comment about how one person's experience with the church that they felt unwelcome and I'm very sorry that they felt like that in God's house. Every morning when someone came to open or they had their lawn taken care of the pastor or the secretary greeted my husband and myself every morning asked if we were okay how we were doing so on etc. They not once never made us feel on one from there they gave us permission to sleep there as long as we cleaned up after ourselves and not bother anyone we were allowed to charter phones they're freely we would leave during the day and come back at night and sleep there they had a huge covered back porch where we slept and my husband and myself with study and read the Bible and talk and pretty much detox ourselves. Now that we are completely clean I am now living with my mother and my eldest son was an adult and staying sober. My husband is homeless again due to some unseen events. He told me that he went back to the church to sleep and was walking up the next day and told not to return due to the police will be called on him for trespassing. My husband and I have not been in the area since October of last year he went away to prison and I moved home with my mother. I don't understand what had happened between that time and now for the church to have turned their back on homeless people. Because last year they were a great blessing for us and I understand of something we have happened for them to now turn their back but they would be a good resource place for homeless people to get clean and get help with housing. I just would like to thank the pastor and his secretary and some of the parishioners for accepting us and not downing us at the time and being helpful and letting us have a safe haven to sleep there when we needed it. And I hope that someday done when I get fully back on my feet and want to start my foundation of helping homeless and drug addict and alcoholics that this church would be one of many churches to be a helping hand to those reaching out for help. This is all I have to say about the church and my experience there thank you and may God bless you all.

My wife and l have been members for over 25 years. Our children were raised in this church. My wife and l would not be the parents we are and our children as happy and successful as they are without this church family. Tell anyone who needs hope and the love of Jesus ✝️ in their lives to come to 1st Henderson. You will be blessed for sure.
