I took my grandson in to get his permit. We sat for pretty much 40 minutes waiting. At one point a gal "in training" did get his picture taken and looked through his paper work... but then back to sitting. Finally he is called up the gal goes through his paper work sends him to the computer to take his test at which point I left to get something. I came back just as he was finishing his test. We jumped to the counter at which time she asked for the same paper work for the third time! I had left it in the car RIGHT OUTSIDE THE DOOR! So I sent the grandson out to grab it and in the mean time thought I could write my check. I was told to step back and let the next guy up. 15 minutes later!, we were back up to the window she did her thing and gave him his permit. She was the only one who knew what she was doing as the other gal was in "training". Why didn't they have another person there? there were at least 10 people waiting most of the time, a couple just left. A total of 1 hour and 15 minutes and we were done! I will say though for the most part they were polite, by the time we got out of there that is all I can say good about the place!

I was there a little before 8:00 am. Presented all my documents and was on my way to work by 8:15 with a new Real ID. Very friendly and helpful service.

Go to Wisconsin DMV.gov/renewal and changes. There is a section pertaining to obtaining a driver license with a valid out-of-state license.
I renewed my drivers license last Thursday. You don't need an appointment. I was the only one there at 11 am.
Social security card, birth certificate, proof of residency. But call them. This is for my chauffer license years ago
