I normally only rent from Avis but I was disappointed in the condition of the car this time. The car was dirty and the tires were nearly bald with a chunk of rubber missing from the sidewall of the right front tire. This is not typical, in my experience, with Avis. Somebody dropped the ball on car maintenance and inspection. After hours car return was painless and very easy.

1.As Avis preferred member I waited longer than those in regular line?? 2.First vehicle offered had "EXCESS" trash throughout which I returned to the front counter and asked for a different vehicle. 3.2nd vehicle after accepting was found to have trash in compartments throughout vehicle. Someone is clearly not doing their job here. 4.Was charged more in the end than on agreement. Had to call and ask why after receiving e-receipt that I could not open. VERY CHALLENGING to get to a LIVE CSR. Was told it was to refuel?? Had filled up 10 mins before dropping off. Now it's my responsibility to prove otherwise. When dropping off vehicle I walked up to return window and was told no need to do anything, they would take care of it. They sure did, charging me to refuel, why I don't know. Then I have to take the lengthy time to submit documents for charges to be returned. 5.This is Avis Preferred member treatment......no thank you.

Top three reasons why this location needs comprehensive training for its staff: 1. I reserve a car with ADA hand controls through Avis’s National help desk well in advance of each rental period, yet every time I arrive at the counter I spend 45 minutes minimum explaining to the counter agents that they should have a vehicle with ADA hand controls to which they respond with blank looks and absolutely no knowledge of it. (Yet every time they end up figuring it out and getting me into the correct vehicle, it’s just frustrating) - for context I use a manual wheelchair so this shouldn’t be a shock to the counter. 2. My most recent rental had used food dishes from someone eating a salad left in the backseat along with a bunch of other bonus trash items 3. My most recent rental had sticky brakes such that when I hit the brakes they would not automatically release, I had to physically pull back on the hand control to lift the brake off the floor board. Additionally the brakes were sticky, which caused my driving to be very jerky every time I deployed the brakes. (Slightly unsafe I’d imagine, but since I was getting married didn’t want them to tell me I’d have to wait three days for a new vehicle with hand controls to arrive in Montana, so i dealt with it.) Overall, this location’s staff could use some serious training and likely a better manager.

Bozeman Avis airport staff was awesome! The rental experience was seamless. Avis came through.

They might have AWD or 4WD - but they can never guarantee that one will be available.
I don't remember seeing any in their parking lot.
You can always check with AVIS. That location is an independent dealer. I think. Consider returning the car to Bozeman (its on the way).Searching for a one way rental from Bozeman to Vancouver. Good to check all options. The one way wait until the last month/week.
