Staff are incredibly hardworking considering how many cases there are on a day to day basis and how many different roles everyone has to play. Real investigations are not like those on tv shows. Sometimes toxicology takes over 12 weeks as samples get sent out to a lab and there is a backlog at the lab as year goes on. The office is NOT a viewing facility due to space constraints but families are informed that they can view their loved ones at the funeral home of their choice which is equipped for that. If identification is missing or was not established by prints, loved ones are informed they can view a facial photograph. Death certificates come from the funeral home and can be delayed if the office is awaiting toxicology, medical records, histology, return calls from primary care physicians and any other information that can aid in determining cause and manner of death.

I was impressed with the staff at the coroner's office. I felt like the investigator was sympathetic regarding my situation. She answered all my questions, and promptly returned my calls. I know their office is busy, but I never felt like I was "just another" case. She offered me her phone number, and said I could call with any questions.

When I went to retrieve my husband's belongings, they first acted like they had no clue. Then a lady went off to grab his things which were in a brown paper lunch bag. As the lady is bringing them my way a coworker if hers goes "oooo what you got in that sack?". I mean complete ignorance, no emapathy, and a total lack of professionalism and/or home training. Truly a pathetic group of government servants. Im sorry if you have endured something similar. They are most disgusting.
