Not possible for me to properly write how truly unique and incredible this place is. Owners are simply amazing and super hospitable hosts. Its the old west, a movie set, a museum, history come alive. Serene environment day and night makes for maximum relaxing. Stars are incredible when the sun goes down. Heated pool and kitties galore. Water smells like it has a high sulfur content, but its totally safe and does not make your skin smell from showering. Its slightly remote, but not difficult to get to. WIFI is OK in certain locations, but our US Cellular service worked there too. Gravel roads are a little wash boarded, but nothing unusual, typical farm roads, any car can get to it. You need reservations ahead of time, 2 day minimum, we stayed for 4 and wish we planned for longer. Located close to toadstools and approximately 30-40 minutes to fort Robinson and maybe an hour to Chadron State park. Currently no food service on site. They have a gas grill, stove, refrigerator with freezer to use on site while there, so bring cooking supplies for as long as you plan to stay. Bring some comfy outdoor chairs, some bottled water and stay a while. You wont be disappointed!

We enjoyed our 2 nights in this beautfiul part of Nebraska. It was comfortable and we had everything we needed. You do need to know that there is no food service so come prepared. We brought food to prepare for dinners in the community kitchen. You may want to bring drinking water - it is well water that has an odor. The filters on the faucets make it quite acceptable. Heather provided a continental breakfast each day. There is a lot of history here and we loved the chance to experience it. We hope to stay here again!

Great for kids because of so much to touch, do & experience. Kids loved school house and begged to play school. The blacksmith and mercantile were super entertaining and of course we all had to go to jail & take Most Wanted Mug Shots. The owners are fantastic and very attentive. We weren't able to use the pool because of water depth - our children only 5 & 4 & water too deep. But nice touch for families with bigger kids. Loved seeing burros and buffalo and scenery in every direction was spectacular. Fabulous star gazing because no exterior lights of any kind. Recommend you bring your own camp chairs to be comfortable sitting outside. Also, definitely bring your own drinking water. Would definitely take other children there for an adventure back into the past.

We stayed for opening weekend and the new owners were very hospitable. This was definitely a fun place for a family vacation with younger children. The baby burrow and the Buffalo were fun to see. We enjoyed most of our time hanging out in the main Street of the old western town. We also enjoyed family time in the Sand Creek cabin. This is a great place to come and unplug and reconnect as a family. The mercantile has lots of neat souvenirs and local artwork. The restaurant was not open yet but they did cater the opening events and it was delicious! We are excited to try more off the menu once they open. We will definitely be coming back in the future.

Questions & Answers

Who are the new owners? Are they going to change website

Yes, Mom & Mike sold the place, but are teaching the New Owners how they ran it. Some things may change a little, but for the most part the new owners see the potential in how it is now!

Coming to your place this month. I have a two day old subaru sedan. Am i going to kill it driving on the dirt roads in your area and to your place? It is pretty low to the ground. Our other option is a toyota rav. What would you recommend?
