Very rude people never answer the phone and is rude to the callers

Cop at the front desk was respectful and professional. However, the lady that “helped” us with our social security card name change was one of the rudest employees I’ve ever experienced. Right of the bat, she was rude and short with me even though I had all of the required documents and forms and was respectful to her. She LITERALLY threw my license back at me when she was done with it. Then once I guess she was done with the forms, she slammed her curtain down without telling us it was completed or anything like that. No “you’re all set bye” just a throw of our forms back and then an abrupt close of the curtains. I couldn’t help but laugh at how outwardly rude she was. I’m assuming she was having a bad day. I’m not sure what about me angered her. But at her age and in a government role - I was expecting someone who knew how to control her emotions and some degree of professionalism. Lady if you’re reading this - there’s a therapy office right next door that might help you with your emotional regulation and whatever problems you’re going through to make you act like that. I wish you the best.

The local office in Ames is open to the public. However, there is a limit on how many people can be there at one time, and a mask is required.

I called ahead to make sure I was bringing all the correct paperwork with me and Amber was very quick and friendly. Thank you

Do I have to drive to the office to get a new SS card?? The automated phone won't get me to anyone to ask questions. I used to be able to call the Ames office---the automated phone hangs up on me. Diana
