This facility is great. So many friendly people and the director James Brassard is amazing. He helped us for a long time to try to get our mother into the facility. Dementia is a extremely hard thing to deal with and they made it easier. After finding them on Facebook we decided to take a look at the facility and now our mom is safe and taking care of. Thank you all so much for the smooth transition and taking care of her.

My mother in law was diagnosed with dementia several years ago. My father in law thought he could take care of her, and while we encouraged him to get help, even offering to research places for him, he stood fast on his decision to take care of her. Until he couldn't. This past year, we learned that he wasn't taking care of her, leaving her in her bed, for days on end, trying to feed her and bathe her, on his own, but with a bad back and knee issues, he stopped doing these things. He never asked for help. I tried, numerous times, to encourage him to talk to Linda, at Pelican Landing. Finally, after she "slipped" off the bed, he called us to help get her off the floor. We drove 2 hours, as fast as we could, running inside (I advocated for him to call 911 but he refused), we helped her off the floor and into her bed. This is when we found out the truth. He could not provide care for her, at all. I contacted Linda, at Pelican Landing, and within a few days, I picked my mom's room, and had my father in law sign the papers. They assessed my mother in law, helped her to the hospital, and then arranged for her to move in directly from the hospital. All of this would not have happened if it wasn't for the help of James Brassard, Linda, and Latoya. James was on the phone with me every day, making sure I was comfortable with my mother's care and helped with the transition. I honestly have no idea what we would have done without him. James still keeps in touch, for updates, and he is always available, if we need him. The nursing staff is doing such a great job, too. It is wonderful to see her quality of life improve so much! Bless the entire staff at Pelican Landing. Truly, I feel they not only saved my mother in law, but they saved our entire family. Thank you all, Shannon Lynch, PhD.

Beautiful facility, spotlessly clean, just the right size - not too big and not too small. Staff is always warm and welcoming when we visit Mom once or twice-a-week. Staff was especially helpful when we struggled with the initial move of Mom out of her house and into the facility. She has since settled in and is now quite comfortable in her new home at Pelican Landing.

I must thank James and the staff for the experience my Mom and I have had so far with Pelican Landing AL. Linda has been so helpful, understanding, PATIENT, listening to all of our needs and requests, keeping us informed, efficiently walking me through every step of the process and making Mom feel comfortable too. EVERYONE has been friendly and helpful along this journey of moving Mom into this facility: Denise and Debbi (answering ALL my constant questions and concerns), James and Linda (making this happen so fast), Diana (returning my phone calls and easing my anxiety about LTC insurance!), Latoya (meeting with me, more than once, to listen and act on my concerns about Mom’s meds, personal care, etc.), all the resident assistants that have escorted Mom about and reminded/encouraged her to attend activities and meals, the med techs attending to her needs and enquiries, the Activities Department making her feel comfortable in her new abode. Fred pleasantly attended to her TV and clock on her first day of arrival even though so late in the day. I wish to thank the dining room staff and chef and cooks for providing fast, efficient service with hot meals and real napkins (it is the small things sometimes that make an elderly person feel at home!). Yes, like emptying the trash everyday….Mom loves that! And EVERYONE has treated her with respect, never making her feel inadequate for not finding her way around yet, never making her feel small for not attending a function when she is too tired. I’m sure I’ve forgotten someone or something else to praise or thank….but hopefully this will do for a start! I look forward to a long and happy experience for my Mom at Pelican Landing. Thanks to all that are making that happen every day, Patti Traynor
