What more can I say. We have stayed here four times and booked a fifth time. Close to beautiful Pella IA, a destination in itself. A good base to explore S E IA. Borders on a bird sanctuary. Have you ever seen indigo buntings, orioles, cardinals and other birds in a single morning? Thank you Gladys Black! Very clean, homey and relaxing. Easy to get to. A lovely place to get away from it all!

Such a wonderful relaxing getaway. Very cozy. Lots of wildlife to see. Deer came by frequently to eat the corn that had been spread out by owners of the cabin. Birds visited the bird feeder. We enjoyed the easy/close access to the walking paths around Red Rock Lake.

Love this place. Hugh and his wife go above and beyond. Very responsive and helpful whatever the need may be. We return here each year and will continue to do so. The setting is fantastic.

We stayed for the weekend in the Haven cabin and our friends stayed in the Nest. Both cabins are very beautiful! Fully stocked with what you need in the kitchen to cook and towels in the bathroom with the whirlpool tub, which was awesome!! It was such a peaceful place to stay. We enjoyed sitting around the fire. We got to see 3 deer right outside several times, a woodchuck, and lots of birds! Our friend saw a red fox behind our cabin, but we missed it. Maybe next visit! It stormed Saturday night, but was still wonderful sitting in the screened in porch watching and listening to it. We drove and checked out the Cordova water tower, very cool. Saw a bobcat on our way there. We walked the trails also. We all thoroughly had an excellent, perfect time and can't wait to return to this little peace on earth!

If you go to their website, you'll see all of that info and select reservation dates. There are 2 cabins and they are both very nice.
Pets are allowed with certain exceptions. Pets must remain outside or within the screened porch. Pets are NOT allowed inside the cabin. There is an additional fee along with a refundable pet deposit. Thanks for asking and I hope the policy works for you to be able to visit us!
Yes. They take reservations at https://hornsferryhideaway.com/ . You can rent for a single night if you want to.
