Got my driver's license today. (10/12/18) Very friendly examiners. This was my second test. Flunked the first time about a month ago, and the examiner explained everything that I did wrong, and made sure that I understood why I flunked. So today, I took my retest and got a different examiner, very pleasant, he greeted me just before I walked in the door, asked why I flunked the first time, and then, gave me my retest. This time I succeed. The lady who took my picture was friendly too. My only complaint is, they move to slow. They need to either hire more staff or be open on more days.

You can take the non cdl permit test here with no appointment needed, only on Friday. All the other days except Friday are photo service only. The only appointment needed is for the road test, and that can be done through a local driving school or Penndot. The car used for the road test must have valid PA ( no out of state allowed ) Registration, inspection, and Insurance. If you take the road test at a driving school you can use one of their vehicles for a small fee. Before you get your learner's permit you have to download Penndot form 180 and take it to a physician to complete after giving you a physical. If you don't have insurance or need it asap the best option is a chiropractor. Cheaper than an MD & easier to get an appointment.
You can get a copy of handbook and all forms and requirements on line. Www.DMV.pa I think it is.
No, you need check or money order for the amount of your new ID, you process in, you take a number and done.
Copy is fine. They'll just ask you what happened to the original, but they don't usually make too much of a fuss about it. Have a nice day!
