The staff doesn't monitor activity. You can sit outside and smoke for hours. You can go hook-up with someone in the bathroom as it is coed living space. A good place to find a new dealer

I was looking forward to getting treatment here in galax, I was checked in last Monday, things were going good I felt good about being here.. then late Thursday night I was awakened to my lights being turned on in my room it was my room mate and his buddy another patient, I nicely asked my roommate to turn their off I was trying to sleep this was after lights out, he respected my request and did so as he left his buddy said some threatening things towards me about asking the light be turned off,it escalated Into me and this patient getting into an all out fight in the floor of my room, without warning I was kicked out of the program Friday evening a little short of 24 hours later from the brawl.. I was told I would be addressed about the incident the next morning I could be thrown out,but without warning I was told to get my belongings and head to front entrance my cab was waitkng, totally different than what i was told to expect, no time whatsoever to prepare for a discharge, I rode all Friday night into Saturday morning back to Chesapeake va,VA, city, dropped off a 330 in the morning with no one awake to help me out so I was stranded outside the rest of the night into sunrise.. I have to explain to family why I didn't stay abd complete the program.. everyone is gonna be disappointed in me.. I wanted this treatment I didn't want to be thrown out I didn't come to start trouble, the trouble come trying to bully me and I wasn't having it. the life center totally turned their backs on me instead of giving me a chance to make it right and allow me to continue my treatment.. now I'm back to square 1.. seeking another facility to continue my treatment bc im serious about getting the help and it's now clear the life center was a terrible choice because they could not care less about the patients well being in there. I will be more careful on my selection for the next rehab facility choose for treatment

Absolutely disgraceful if I could give 0 stars I would. I am not a patient, but I have taken my loved one to this facility expecting help and we have yet to hear from a counselor, or receive a daily schedule of the groups and services they came to provide for the residents. I’m completely baffled that they are allowed to operate as a rehab facility. We intend to seek assistance elsewhere.

The life center has gone way down hill. I knew i could get away and get clean and put where i was into perspective. The education is 5th grade level at best except for the 1:10 pm Amy class. Na/AA best part of the day. But, staff is super short, the patients take care of the patients. Too many patients in one building, its complete chaos ( u just kinda have to laugh ab it all & really stay away from the people there that do get in with drugs.) Believe me, they are there! Covid parients total 40 by time i left. The facility does not have the quarantine process under wraps and those patients who have it are wandering the facility with no respect for the others. Its so mismanaged. I threw a clot and an absess the 12th day or atleastbfelt the pain of it then. Took staff 2 days to “hear” me & take it serious enough to get to hospital on top the hill. The hospital itself not much better! Come to find out hospital & galax doxtors/ NP’s had me on complete wrong blood thinner dose & antibiotic dose the whole 2 weeks there!! I was completely disregarded the rest of the time while begging to get the help i needed! Finally they medically discharged me so I could save my leg. 2 weeks of excruciating pain from infection n clot and wouldnt even let me have a damn cane or wheelchair. Im not one to complain about any place or situation unless absolutely negligent. This is the one thats worthy of The BBB or even Osha checking into. Praises to the techs, Loretta, Kelly, etc & the discharge ladies.

How much does this cost
They have 4 drivers that go all the way from Tennessee to Lynchburg to NC, I've even seen and heard them go all the way to Kentucky so I can't see them not figuring out your case. Depends on insurance and all. Good luck.
Yes they do
The only reason they need money would be for the soda machine(only juice, awful coffee, milk and nestea offered). Or for cigarettes. They make a cigarette run twice a week for the patients..cash or debit card.
Major insurance providers accepted include: Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and TRICARE. We accept many more. Our admissions team is available 24/7 to verify your insurance benefits for free. Call us to learn more.
Can sumbody help me with parking my car as I go to galax for treatment?
Some counselors will allow them to call without a calling card but once you're there, they need a calling card to contact you. Then the designated times are from 10-11am 5-6pm and 9pm-11pm
You dont need calling cards anymore. Phone calls are free
Yes they started accepting medicaid
Yes
Yes you can have coloring books. They also provide coloring books, pencils, etc. For me this place helped change my life. I will be celebrating 2 years clean and sober on September 9th. I heard bad things about this place but I noticed it was from people who were not serious about recovery at all. You will get what you put into it for sure and the help is there there. My counselor Kasey was the biggest help.
Can be the same day or a few days. Depends if they have availability. But they go all out trying to get you there. They will drive across the state to getu
Yes
Yes. Just be sure to write their name in bold print on the outside of the letter. You can call and leave a message too..just be sure to leave their full name in the message as well.
Absolutely. We are all protected under this law. I have been in the exact situation and known others who have gone into treatment under similar circumstances and once you're done that certificate will actually help you in court if it's related in any way to your journey. Good luck.
Yes is a co-ed they all live in one big building
Cigarettes as long as they're unopened..a small fan...some let you in with a small radio. One guy brought an acoustic guitar while I was there. Books
He can make phone calls if he has a phone card. He can write letters and have visits on weekends.
The city of va beach sent me free of charge. The CSB (community service board) is who paid I think.
Usually 28 days max. My city va beach offered me 6 weeks max but I only stayed 28. Whatever they tell you over the phone is usually bull stuff. It has everything to do with how long you stay on the detox floor..your insurance or your city's CSB..and also you have to talk to your counselor and make sure they know how long you want to stay. They do an assessment for the length of your stay at I think about day 21.
Detox is different for each chemical. 28 days is longest. But you can leave whenever unless court ordered.
If you can get help through a local mental health agency they will do a sliding scale fee for detox. Otherwise it's usually about 8k for a 28 day treatment.
Wht if u dont live in Virginia
No because of confidentiality. I must say, there's nothing special about the rooms. Two to three beds per room. Single size. One pillow. One blanket. Most of the time very comfortable settings. TV room at end of hallway next to 3 phones on detox floor 3 and level 2 for patients through with detox. Rooms are about 15 by 20 feet if that and are clean. You have a desk or two in each room. Lamp. Carry an alarm clock with a radio because it will get boring and you'll want some you time. Good food. Good counselors. OK nurses. Methadone in AM doses BUPE 2 a day dosing. They dose benzos 2x a day if on protocol. 28 days is the norm with insurance. Without is 3 to 10 days.
Yes visitors are allowed but they must be setup through the patients counselors the week of. You can not usually just go up to them and see them because every visitor has to go through what they call "visitor orientation."
If you have no insurance and you go into their detox it is approximately 575 a day from medication, housing, nursing staff, and your own Counselor. A basic 10 day detoxification process costs roughly 3k.
No
There are places in Virginia with sliding fee scales that will detox you. Horizon is one. However, funding comes from the state and sometimes they're backed up with a wait list. Call your local mental health service provider and they may be able to tell you more. Galax was a place that Horizon had a contract with and they detoxed me there once. There are ways around funding without insurance.
My city..va beach paid for my 30 day stay..it was the CSB(community service board) that paid for it because I was uninsured. Check with your city maybe..cant hurt.
No. Gap insurance won't pay for any inpatient care (residential)..only outpatient.

Yes
Yes they will.
Its like a mental hospital at the main site and the off sites are like halfway houses that's the best way I can describe it
I hope this helps I know if you have GAP Ins. It does cover maintenance treatment centers...ex...methadone or suboxone clinics
