They get you high in the most wholesome way possible! Our experience could not have been better. We were in Charleston celebrating our first wedding anniversary from 9/10 to 9/12, and parasailing was the perfect way to end the trip! It was easy to book a reservation online for a Sunday at the Isle of Palms location, but I did it a couple of weeks in advance. We got to the dock about 45 minutes ahead of time and Ginger got us checked in with no problem. I would suggest following Tidal Wave’s advice to plan for traffic on your way in; it wasn’t bad when we went but I’m sure it’s awful during tourist season. We looked around in the little store/restaurant nearby as we waited for departure. It has public restrooms, which you want to use before going out because you’ll be out for a couple of hours and there are no restrooms on the boat. You can also sit at the dock and look out over the water while you wait to go out. This is a fun activity for all ages, providing you’re in good health! Our group had men, women, and children of varying ages, from young child to a little past middle-aged. Trevor and Preston were entertaining, and upbeat, family friendly music made our ride on the Smile High enjoyable and relaxing. Parasailing isn’t hard even for first timers (as most of the people in the boat were). They explained the Do’s and Don’ts of parasailing clearly as Trevor helped us put on our gear, and made sure everyone felt safe and comfortable. Going up wasn’t scary at all. The line reeled out smoothly and, after a quick dunk (legs only, and it’s optional), we were soaring high above the ocean, with a breathtaking view of the coastline off to our left. We could see for miles in all directions, and it was so quiet! This was an incredible experience that I would repeat hundreds of times over. Being reeled in went was just as smooth as going out, and after another quick dunk (again, it’s optional, but IMO it’s more fun with the dunk), we touched down on deck. No bone-jarring thud; our feet touched the deck and then we were standing, as if we’d just gotten out of a swing. We spent the rest of time relaxing, looking at the beach residences on the distant shore, and enjoying the sunshine and the wonderful feeling of being on the water. Such a great time! When it was time to head back to the dock, we passed the jet skis on the way. It looked like they were having an absolute blast! Trevor took pictures and a 47 second video during our flight, and they turned out well. We took our personal GoPro, and between Trevor’s pictures and video and our GoPro footage, we have a great memento to share with our friends and family. So glad we made reservations for parasailing with Tidal Wave! We’ll make reservations again next visit to Charleston.

We had such a great time on our boat ride for a bachelorette party! Michael was our captain and we had our own boat for about 12 girls. Michael told us all about the landmarks we passed on the way, stopped to let us dolphin watch, and even let us get out to go to a bar for a little and did not cut down our boat time. Highly recommend!

Tried parasailing for the first time with Tidal Wave and had such a great time! The instructors are fun, informative and they make you feel comfortable. The boat departed from Shem Creek, and throughout the trip we were able to sail throughout the Harbor taking in epic views of the city, Fort Sumter and the Arthur Ravenel Bridge. They took phenomenal pictures for an additional small fee which really helped to capture the whole experience. I can’t wait to go back and would absolutely recommend Tidal Wave for any of your water sport excursions!

Yes. It is a per person charge. Most of our flights are tandem. We can do as a triple if the winds and weight are within our safety standards. Thank you for inquiring! Michael Tidalwave Watersports

why is the age restriction 8-15?

During our insurance renewal thi s off-season our carrier informed us of the new restriction regarding the age requirement for the banana boats. When I questioned it and our rep said that they were getting a lot of claims from handles breaking while larger people were going. This caused people to be unknowingly throw from their seat and into another person. He summarized it by saying there were a lot of broken noses. Instead of having everyone weigh before the trip they just set an age restriction. I have no say in this and knew we were going to get backlash from customers. We quickly changed our website to reflect this. I am truely sorry and wish this wasn’t the case. We depend on reviews for our business and would hope that we would not be punished by something we cannot control.
