Spooner Lake - Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park

We were looking for an easy trail in the Lake Tahoe area for someone with mobility issues and Spooner Lake loop was perfect. The path is mostly flat and sandy (no rocks to climb over although there is the occasional tree root) and there are many benches to take a break and enjoy the scenery along the 2.1 mile route.

We love this hike. It's currently under construction, but the views are really beautiful. It's mostly flat and there's a nice 2 mile hike around the lake. We've come here many times over the years and enjoyed the wildlife and the lake. The drive to and from the hike offers great views of Lake Tahoe, too. In early June the wild flowers were so pretty, too!

Tried snowshoeing for the first time. Loved it! Spooner Lake was a great beginner trail. Rented my shoes from Blue Zone Sports. It was quick and easy.

This was on Oct.16th 2021. Beautiful time of year to take this hike!! The parking lot to the park is still closed. We got there early to find parking, got really busy in the afternoon. Thank you (edit- we were actually on the Marlette lake trail, these are pics on that trail)
