As far as jails are concerned, I was pleased with the security of the jail. The units feature lockdown, two-inmate cells which is a major improvement from open-zones. The offenders are allowed access to the day room for two hours and thirty minutes with PC offenders on 23 and 1. I feel it cuts down on fights and reduces the noise in the unit. Many times, I see televisions and yelling which can be hell. I am giving this a 3-star rating because I believe Hardeman County to be a potential testbed for enhanced correctional techniques. I would like to fundraise for inmate literacy and experiment with pilot programs which could bring money and stature to the county. The feeding schedule is 5 and 5. Two trays, with palatable quality. I still need some evidence that has not been returned, yet I can confirm the public defenders, district attorneys, and judges did assist me although it took a while. One thing I want is to find out how to keep the good aspects of the jail and enhance them. That is all. Peace. TTT

My family unfortunately suffered the tragic loss of our loved one, James O Greene on January 8th. This is in the faults of the Hardeman County Sherrif's Department, The District Attorney, local so called mental health facilities, Western State, Crisis Center, and Adult Protective Services. He had severe mental issues, and for the past 20-25 years my 88 year old grandmother, ( his mother) and her family had tried and tried to get local authorities, District Attorney, and government agencies to help us get him placed in a mental facility in the state of Tennessee. He was passed around like a chess piece in a game. When you made a call to dispatch, they made rude comments, such as, " you guys have been trying to get rid of him forever"! Not get rid of, just receive the proper assistance, and have the proper channels taken to have him placed in the correct facility. Which an attorney informed the family recently that there are facilities in the State of Tennessee that do take family members with mental illness and keep them there. So, basically our system was sick and tired of dealing with James. They just didn't care what happened to him, as if they had. He would not have gotten run over and killed. And, sadly this was just one of the many times the Sherrif's Dept. released him walking on foot knowing the state of his mind. And they did nothing right at all! If it was one of our so called Justice System's family member, l'm sure they would have been treated with respect like a human being, and given the best facility care that our State of Tennessee can offer. That is why so many people you hear of with mental illness on our news broadcasters, go and kill innocent people, as they are pushed aside, left in the shadows, as our own local District Attorney quoted on January 8th at court proceedings. Also, in just about every news story, the reporter ends one of those tragic stories with, this person was known to have issues or struggled with mental illness. So, a big Thank You to the Hardeman County Sherrif's Department, Our local District Attorney, and local so called mental health facilities. You might as well been driving the truck the killed him.
