DON'T. If Miss Amy were still in charge, things would be much different at the studio, but there is someone who is in "charge" but really isn't. After asking why dancers are practicing their routines for an average of 19 minutes per 60 minutes one day each week, I was told by the front desk lady that class isn't just about the routine. As a teacher and coach, I understand that, but only to a point. Then there is the fact that yes, in January, the routine is the point. When emails are sent out about dance recital tickets costs and costume costs and picture costs and many of the dance parents are working extra hours or side jobs, then YES, that recital routine is the point and should be practiced more. The skills work needs to be cut down to allow for more recital practice. The dancers in the Hip Hop Class I'm familiar with even "warmed up on their own" for just over 20 minutes one class while the teacher filled out paperwork that could have been done on her own time and not during a $75 a month class.
