I took my 16 yo. cat to 3 vets in 2 years for general checkup. The first 2 said he was looking good after doing a blood test. The third said that he had a fatty liver after me paying $600 for x-rays trying to see if he had lungworm cuz he was coughing a lot. None of these mof0s could tell me he had kidney decease. The doctor at this practice practically save my furry kid's life or at least he is going to live a bit longer since he looks much better (he gain weight, his fur is shining, he is more active and doesn't cough anymore). God bless you guys!

The cat practice is our favorite vet in Manhattan. The doctor really cares about our animals. He is compassionate and through and provides the best care throughout our cats lives. Dr. Dougherty is truly an exceptional veterinarian. We have been with him for years, and he is simply the best vet for cats.

Dr Eric is the best. He takes his time to speak with you about your concerns. His place is very clean. The staff was nice too. He did not try to oversell us and he was thoughtful. Everyone should be so lucky as my cats! Finding a cat specialist that cares about pets the way he does is amazing. We love Dr Eric.

Dr Dougherty is a great vet and clearly cares for and knows what he's doing around cats. I can't imagine going to anyone else. I've been taking my cat for a while and trust him very much. The staff is also very kind and understanding.

Questions & Answers

Are you scheduling in-person appointments with my cat?

Stephen Gleason | Mar 18, 2022
The Cat Practice | Mar 18, 2022

Hi Stephen - we are still doing drop off appointments at this time. We are a small team, so we believe it is the best way to keep our office as safe as possible. Dr. Dougherty will always speak with clients on the phone and he meets the new clients outside in person. Rest assured you will absolutely receive the same VIP treatment, with a very cat-centric approach to feline healthcare! We look forward to seeing you both soon!

How much is it for neutering procedure?

Sophie Paik | Oct 15, 2019
The Cat Practice | Oct 15, 2019

Yes, the neuter is $250 + pain meds etc, but we would need to meet your cat first for an exam as well. We offer a 50% OFF PROMO for a new client exam if you ask about our Google promotion during your appointment (before the discount, an exam is $95). If you'd like to book with us, please give us a call at 212-677-1401. We look forward to helping you soon!

Is the practice wheel chair accessible

Dr Ann Viviano | Oct 15, 2018
Jill Goldstein | Oct 15, 2018

Yes - there is an elevator. Note that the entryway to the building may be a bit tight, and you will need to ask someone to come down to assist you with the door to the building, as it is not automatic.
