Is this amazon store just for students ?

No. You can enter without an ID and pick up or ship items. The pick up center requires that you get a code or barcode from your Amazon account, at which point staff will put the item into the lockbox, and you type in or scan the code to release it.

How can I find out if you have a book that I need for a class? If you do have the book can I copy several chapters until I receive the book I ordered from Amazon?

You can go to http://library.stonybrook.edu/ and search for the book. In the search page, you can limit the results to books, and look for the location of the book in the library. For example, there is a copy of To Kill a Mockingbird on the shelf in the Main Stacks.
