I called for taxes because I need to know in order to purchase a property. the woman who answered the phone in the tax department really hates her job. She was the most uncooperative person I ever talk too. The website isnt self explanatory. What do people do when they call for info if the Person working on the other end blows you off!!

The office of the Receiver of Taxes does not communicate with the Nassau County Treasurer's Office and it seems that their computers do not show the same information regarding the taxpayer's status. Multiple phone calls must be made to each office in order to get full disclosure of the taxpayer's status.

Wonderful Office, with great, helpful staff.

Taxes are due November 1 but here it is November 9 and still no bill. Call the office and it’s closed due to Covid. When taxes are late I’ll be penalized for their incompetence.

My mother passed in March and I have been trying to have taxes put in my name for 9 months. The offices are all closed due to Corona and noone seems to help. I had an attorney send forms and death certificates and got no answer. I applied for star in my name...no answer. Tax bill just came, still in my mom's name, no changes. This office is absolutely useless. They used the virus to not do their job...disgusting!
Can I pre pay my taxes this week? My taxes are now being paid by the bank.
No. But you must register with the receiver do we know where to send the bills
You should notify the Receivers Office in writing that you paid off mortgage, along with note of satisfaction from bank. Call them 1st, and they will send you your tax bills directly to your home. Send in copies only of note of satisfaction, keep originals. They will change their records after you contact them, and fill out paperwork. You can also go on line at www.toh.li too, and click on Receiver of Taxes link, Best Wishes to you, Stay well
On or before August 12
