Amazing views. Yes, the sites are a little close together, but it didn’t really feel intrusive. Definitely reserve river side (1,2, and 6). Basic amenities, fire pit, grill, nice leveled places to pitch, water pump, port-a-pot. Really just a super pleasant spot…..except the trains. It literally sounds like caterwauling banshees coming through the campground. Honestly, on a misty mid October evening it added an interesting effect. Sleep was wrecked though.

The entrance is little confusing but once you get there it a great place nice and clean and quiet.

Relatively no frills campground that offers just what you need; a place to park, space for at least a couple of tents, fire ring, picnic table, bathrooms (2 port-a-potties & 1 "normal" bathroom) and easy water access. The compound is easy to get and easy to reserve online. Plenty of parking if you just need to access the Potomac as well. The river itself goes from 2 feet or so to maybe 8-10 in deeper sections but is clean and slow moving; perfect for SUP or kayaking. I've been here a couple of times now and haven't had any issues to speak of. Plenty of small kindling and larger pieces of firewood to find without a problem. They have a handpump for water and I've met nothing but nice and easygoing people there.

Tony and I was driving on Route 56 going to Fort Frederick State Park in Big Pool MD when we saw the sign for the McCoy's Ferry Landing and Campground. It's a historical location. There was no signage telling you anything about the historical value of the landing and ferry at this Potomac River location. There are picnic tables, grills, bathroom and a very narrow boat landing. Campground requires reservations I'm assuming online, again no signage. The park police showed up while there. No alcohol allowed even when camping You have to drive through a short dark one lane narrow tunnel to get to the location. I was fairly disappointed 😞 because no information about location available. Free to use park and landing, not sure about tent camping sights.

The campsites are $20 per night as of July 2022. There is at least one campsite that is designated as handicap accessible.
It costs 20.00 a night and you have to call the reservation number on the website. It's quick and easy
Is it like odds is on one side and evens are on the other?
