To say this church isn’t something entirely special would be violating some level of condition of the Geneva Convention, so here it goes. The first time I walked in I was greeted by a long haired dude named Matt who looked like he was part of The Secret Service. He had sunglasses and an earpiece, as if Obama was gonna enter the pulpit. As I walked in, I had to grab a quick bite to eat, and a man named Mel gave me a donut, juice, and then said a joke to me that I can’t remember but I DO remember it was dryer than the Sahara Desert and he was laughing so hard I thought I would have to perform CPR. Finally, I got to the main sanctuary. Let me tell you: the worship here was AMAZING. They had a choir for the first time (I assume?) in a while and boy, did it get the energy going. I felt like doing backflips straight to the podium. I felt like I was in the Blues Brothers church scene with James Brown. After the worship, the Pastor (Kirk, I think) delivered a fire sermon. This man spit more fire out his mouth than Eminem. I managed to meet all the pastors by the end of the service. Like The Avengers, they were all there waiting for those who needed it. The Pastors son, Josh (I dubbed him Captain America by his likeness to the man) was a calm, bubbly attitude that will surely deliver his own brand of fire one day. Pastor Luis, an outspoken man with enough gold chains to be an extra in The Sopranos, was exactly the fire and desire for Christ that I think other churches need. And finally, Pastor Joe who, just like his cologne, was strong and able to detect a mile away, just by his incredible presence and love for people. Chick-fil-A likes to call themselves the “home away from home”, but this church makes Chick-fil-A look like a backwoods motel with a half star review on Yelp. Thank you for making me feel so at home. In the words of Arnold Schwarzenegger, “I’ll be bahk”
