I was at Glen Mills in 1963-64. I went there as a bad egg, but came out well behaved. I was in Cottage 9 with Mr. & Mrs. Englar. My backup parents were Mr. & Mrs. Hughes. My teacher in school was Mr. Reynolds. I enjoyed my time there and am seriously sorry that it has closed. I never knew of any kids to have a hand put on them for bad behavior. Mr. McGuire was in charge of the cottages. He was firm, but fair. Mr. Fewell was the Superintendent. Another good man. We all got along, respected each other and settled our differences like men with no hard feelings later. Too bad it changed. I would love to help support the school if it ever reopened. Thank you Glen Mills.

I was here from 93'-94' at the Monroe Hall with big Al and Big John. I was the first Hispanic California kid in this Hall. It really changed my life for the good, yeah i got beat up here by staff ( level 6 ) and had to scrub the floor with a tooth brush but i broke a rule that i never did again. I was positive discharged with a GED and college prepped, i never went to jail again.

1988-1990 Academic Hall/Fillmore - Monroe. GMS was the best thing that could have happen to me. Was it 'fun' no, it wasn't supposed to be, that was the point. Did it keep me out of prison, yup. I wrestled, ran track, cross country and had my radio show in the mornings 97.3 WZZE The Sound of Glen Mills. Every sunny morning I raised the flag, picked up the news papers and walked down to the radio station to broadcast my show. It's a shame this school is closed down, was it rough at times, yes but.... Look at the alternative, some kids need a harsh reality wake-up call at 13-17ish before they make that foolish mistake that outs them in prison for years. Someone should let the students from 89 dig up the time capsule.

Although not a working school, there are still people there, administration people. Try to contact them.
I'm not really sure but I think so as long as school is not in session.
