My husband and I needed a place to crash between OH and NYC. What a lovely spot! The building is old and the ac/heating system is not up to date so they have difficulty switching between heating and cooling (though the window did open, so we were quite comfortable all night in the mild spring weather), but what a cool place to stay! The staff was helpful. The room was dated but immaculately clean - no bugs, no dust, no grime. Truly spotless. There's not much breakfast to speak of, but the staff did put out some oatmeal, granola bars, and mixed nuts. The area was a pleasant surprise for us; Wheeling has a nice small town vibe with lots of history and enough "gentrification" going on to make it beautiful but not so much to make it feel stuffy. We walked along the river to see the old suspension bridge, and it was truly beautiful. Like the hotel, the area was clean and well-maintained despite some parts being dated. We recommend it for any traveler!

Giving two stars because the guy at the front desk was very nice and the lobby is inviting. We actually ended up leaving the hotel, though, and getting a room somewhere else. For starters, our room number was written on our door in pen, with no actual signage--that kind of weirded me out before we even opened the door. The beds had an old-school coil-spring feel. The carpet was ripped in spots. There was a very strong citrus smell, like a cleaning product, that was completely overpowering, perhaps trying to cover something up? The toilet wouldn't stop running after being flushed. The temperature was in the 80's and we were on the 6th floor, but the cooling system didn't seem to be blowing cold air for the 30 minutes that we were in there, despite being on the coldest setting. Overall, nothing really inspired confidence or comfort, and we decided to go elsewhere instead of asking for a new room and taking a chance that it would be more of the same. We checked out and left when we returned from our event after midnight. I do hope the hotel successfully completes the renovations, as the building has lots of potential. I would recommend in the meantime either not putting people in the rooms that haven't been renovated yet, or devising a better system to avoid mistakenly putting them in such a room, if it was inadvertent.

Nice place in downtown Wheeling! Clean, quiet, well apportioned rooms. Friendly and helpful staff. Great little bar in the hotel lobby. Convenient parking and easy access from I-70 for fellow through-travelers. Exceptionally reasonable rates. Highly recommended, will absolutely stay here again.

The staff are the best. Always friendly. The rooms are fantastic. Always immaculately clean, huge props to Mandy and Patty in the housecleaning department. They keep the whole place spic and span. Chris at the front desk is always so friendly. The new assistant manager is fantastic.

The food was decent. The price's we're a little steep, but overall it's a good place to eat.
