I have used AutoZone as my main supplier of auto parts for 20+ years. I was reluctant to change but I went to O'Reilly's in Mandeville Friday 4/1/22. I needed a motor mount for my Yukon XL. I had a small issue. Theresa and Parker helped me out immensely. Parker was concise with his questions, made eye contact and actually carried on a conversation with me. He offered to help bring in a couple of batteries I had. Theresa was also helpful and friendly beyond expectations, she made my issue go away. I'll turn in my AutoZone card immediately. Yesterday Thursday August 5th I needed a battery for my 2010 Chevy Silverado 1500 5.3L V8 and decided O'Reilly's Auto Parts in Mandeville Louisiana was the place I was going to buy this Auto Craft 12V 730CA battery that would work nice in my truck. The reason being, O'Reilly's is known for helping customers by installing some part's they sell, it is what the owner's manual calls for. Anyway I get to O'Reilly's and the cashier was very polite as well as professional at her job, keep in mind that sometimes you can be too professional and discourage a customer from purchasing your products. The battery I intended on purchasing costs $169.99+17.00 for taxes, I was prepared to spend $200.00 but as the cashier was ringing up the sale, I asked if they had someone that could help with installing the battery, she replied yes then said they couldn't install it, I asked why, her reply was and she showed me on the monitor difficult to install must have certified technician for installion. I said stop with this purchase. Here's where the problem sits, where the battery is located in this make model and year Chevy Silverado there is a bracket with 4 bolts that holds it in place from the firewall panel to the right front fender that must be removed to replace the battery. O'Reilly's policy states that they cannot replace or install this battery because the Chevy manufacturer calls for a certified technician from their dealership do the servicing of this vehicle and that's placed in O'Reilly's computers. Anyway I didn't buy the battery from O'Reilly's Auto Parts, I went to AutoZone purchased the battery there same cost, as I was paying for it the other employee was gathering the tools to replace it. The young man Mr Edgerson rolled his service cart out the door and began the replacement. He was very professional as well as careful not to scratch the paint, always taking care of the customer. 20 minutes later battery installed as a courtesy for making the purchase. I thanked Mr Edgerson and handed him $10.00 as a tip for his kindness. Thank you Auto Zone of Mandeville Louisiana Hwy 190.
