I had heard great things about All About Women and was excited to establish continued prenatal care here. One of the women in the front office who answers the phone is why I chose not to have my prenatal care with this facility. I recently moved to this town from out of state, and once I got my insurance approved, I called to make an appointment. The literal first thing she asked me was about insurance. I said it was medicaid but I’m new to Medicaid, so I wasn’t sure of which plan I had just yet. She became frustrated after I apologized and that I needed a moment to look at my documents. She then proceeds to rudely ask for my name and social and birthday. Then asks how far along I was in my pregnancy, which was about 16-17 weeks at the time. And the way she said this is what made me choose another OBGYN: “Have you had ANY prenatal care?!” As though I was completely negligent! This is my FIRST pregnancy, of course I had prenatal care before I moved to Florida. That judgemental tone dripping with disdain is NOT what I needed during the most anxious time of my life. If the front office staff is THAT rude, then how would the doctors have treated me? I promptly chose another OBGYN.

The office is great, but Dr. Allison Falkenstrom is the greatest. I'm no spring chicken, and I've had a lot of doctors over the years. Dr. Falkenstrom is thorough and detail oriented. She explains things in a way that any human person can understand. I've left offices where I didn't understand all of what was explained or occurred, but she makes me feel as if I'm part of my healthcare. Thank you, Dr. Falkenstrom.

If you sign on to be a patient in the Lake City office, please expect to spend most appointments at the Gainesville office. The physicians are only in Lake City every other week for one or two days. It is therefore difficult to get an timely appointment with your provider. They don't do ultrasounds at the Lake City office, and send you to Gainesville for that. The Gainesville office is on a hospital campus in a busy part of town, and parking and getting to your appointment is a challenge. Furthermore, they just canceled an upcoming appointment, and rescheduled it for a month out....unless of course, I wanted to go to the Gainesville office. Considering I live two hours from Gainesville, this adds a two hour ordeal to every appointment.
