Definitely a challenging hike, but one of the best hikes that my husband and I have done. Amazing views!!

Hiked on the east side of the loop only. The trail itself was a little boring and monotonously uphill (basically no switchbacks). BUT the view at the top is a stunner. 270 degree views along the rocky section were absolutely marvelous and made a great picnic spot. Just be aware that there isn't much space at the top, so i could see how it could get crowded up there. (It wasn't when I went though!)

Unique hiking experience, walk along the stream, see the split rock, however hikers should note this is an 8 mile round hike to the top and back down, and is a continuous uphill climb. Bring plenty of water. Leave no trace, donβt pick the wildflowers π

We were looking for a quiet place to park, walk the dog, get wet, and maybe get some loving. Did everything but love'n. Also didn't walk past the old dam, but asked someone about the vista at the top. He said it was pretty epic. 1,066 acres is what the sign said. Also, it was stated that a paper permit was required to proceed onto the trails. She and I ignored it (was no ink pen) there was no consequence. Dog loved it.

I haven't researched that, but, there were dogs on a leash out there. Bring water for the doggie and yourself.
