I took my car in to Sun Valley Imports to try to figure out a noise it was making. I suggested to them that it could be the cam timing chain tensioner or the clutch/flywheel based on my research. They charged $75 for a diagnostic, then came back and told me it "sounded like rod knock." I was pretty surprised to hear this, considering 1. I know what rod knock sounds like and it wasn't even close to that sound and 2. That's a pretty serious problem. Then they said they couldn't really duplicate the noise on the lift. What? I specifically told you it makes the noise while driving the car - not to mention that completely contradicts your claim of rod knock, which would be heard any time the engine is running. So I asked how much just for an oil change while they had it - they said that would bring the total to $165. So that means that's $90 for an oil change - obviously an absurd price. I said forget everything, picked my car up and drove it straight to another mechanic. They confirmed it was absolutely not rod knock and that the noise was coming from the clutch/flywheel - EXACTLY WHAT I MENTIONED TO SUN VALLEY IN THE FIRST PLACE. This is basically the equivalent of going to the doctor and saying "yeah my foot hurts when I run" and the doctor saying "yeah it's probably terminal cancer" . This has to be the most incompetent "mechanic" I've ever heard of - and they hide it all behind a smiling face at the front desk. Update: And of course they reply with some passive aggressive response - exactly what I expected from this place. Funny how "all the knowledge I have from Google and YouTube" could correctly diagnose the problem when your "professionals" apparently could not. Also funny how quickly you responded to this public review without contacting me directly - weird how you had no problem sending me two emails and a text within 24 hours begging for a review after I had my car in (and after explicitly telling me they wouldn't spam me when I gave them my phone number and email). Guess what, you got your review.

Mike and the team at Sun Valley came highly recommended and did not disappoint. Facility is spotless and organized. Fair pricing on my Beemer maintenance which is an expensive car to take car of. Mike was professional, pleasant and knowledgeable. He kept me in the loop throughout the entire process.
