Review by truck driver: This place is open 24/7, security at the gate is great with providing you directions and contact phone numbers. Note that you'd still need to pay $35 truck entrance fee ( semi tractor trailer ) regardless if you are planning for quick in and out or a longer pick up / drop off or even spend overnight, still have to pay 35.00 entrance fee. EW Kean loading bays are kinda facing oil refinery facility so once you driving on parking lot as soon as you see several giant silver round and cylinder shape oil tanks on your left, EW Kean’s loading bays will be on your right hand side / just keep driving on parking lot for another minute then make right and immediately another right ( u turn ) keep driving more you will see several loading docks on your left, look for G section. EW kean docks are G1 thru G5. Due to covid facility doesn't allow drivers into the building, entrance doors have signs saying no drivers are allowed. So if you need to use bathroom, plan in advance accordingly. Wait time for unload wasnt too bad, upon arrival i called the receiving dept, notified them that i arrived and about within an hour forklift guy cursing heavily started to unload, nothing wrong with his cursing i believe he is a nice guy with just a unique way of communicating. I haul a flatbed trailer, i was lucky that it wasn't raining anymore that evening , i was told that had it been pouring even tiny bit, they would cancel the unloading and i’d had to roll out tarps and cover the load again and wait till sky clears... so for all of you flatbedders: plan and coordinate with receiving dept the conditions for your appointment for unloading. Cause if its raining, you will get stuck, for how long ?! Till its sunny and shiny again ... hours ? Days ?! Dryvans and reefers dont have this weather related obstacle... Had i known all these issues and rules ahead of time, prior to pick up, i’d most likely reconsider taking this load. Other than that this facility looks a lot nicer and cleaner than the same type of food warehouse in long island ny. Plenty of overnight parking, bright pole lights everywhere on parking lot, no piles of trash and no bad smell from trash. Traffic is moderate and NOT that crazy where like 10 trucks trying to back up same-time in just 7 docks... you know how it is ... The lady that oversees the receiving dept is very friendly and nice over the phone and most importantly she picks up the phone the minute you call, so there is no B/S phone voice auto responders saying press this and that button for operator, the minute you call you will speak with live person. 👍👍👍. Relatively fast unloading, not super fast but its ok, not bad, upon arrival in about 1hr my truck was started to get unloaded, took about 40 min to unload 18 pallets. There is a cafeteria somewhere in the facility ( not sure if its also 24/7 ) but due to strict building’s entry restrictions for drivers, the existence of that cafe is just on paper and adds no real value or makes truck driver’s life any easier. Even if it has its own entry doors and even if it allows drivers to sneak in pretending that they are facility’s employees and not strangers ( truck drivers ) keep in mind that depending on where you park your truck, the walk distance to that cafe might surprise you. The size of this facility is larger than several walmarts combined... and because you cant take shortcut thru the facility, you’d have to walk around it, but of course walking is healthy. Make sure you grab you dog for a nice walk too. Dont forget about masks. Stay faithful and keep it crystal clear for yourself why are you doing this...
