Gary Smith is very professional and responsive. I highly recommended him if you need help with property tax appeals!

Gary Smith does a great job in fighting for what is fair for the home owner. I have been with Gary's firm a couple years. I was fortunate to have him pick up the phone and have a brief conversation. However, I will tell you that the people working in his office are professional, and will follow-up quickly with you. I highly recommend the Law Offices of Gary H Smith for Cook County Property Tax Savings.

I consulted Mr. Smith on a commercial property tax inconsistency. He was thorough, knowledgeable and patient. Did I mention that he was highly recommended by another legal contact? That speaks volumes.

There are a number of ways we can help you obtain a more accurate valuation and appeal an incorrect assessment. We’ll take a look at the property description to ensure it is correct, we’ll look at the value of other comparable properties in your neighborhood, and we’ll make sure your home’s condition was taken into account when its value was assessed.
Yes. By law, you must pay the first installment of your property tax bill by March 1 whether you are planning to appeal or not. If you’re appealing your assessed value, however, the second installment tax bill won’t be issued until a decision is made.
Property tax deductions reduce the assessed value of the property that is taxed, so missing out on them can result in a significantly higher tax bill. If you weren’t given credit for valid deductions, we may be able to file an appeal. You’ll find the deadline to file an appeal printed on the top of your Notice of Proposed Assessed Valuation. You may also appeal in any year between reassessments. Give us a call so we can talk about the details.
Incorrect tax bill information is alarmingly common in Cook County. If your tax bill does not accurately reflect the characteristics of the property you own, we can help you get the information corrected and file an appeal.
