We come here every year because it has everything we're looking for. It has that small family friendly and family owned vibe, wooded areas with lots of trees and trails to explore, access to the river, heated pool, showers and bathrooms, fire pits, tables, electric and water, clean sites, concession stand with more than reasonable prices and it's not far from home but feels like a world away. I'm sure I'm missing some things that make oaks on the River great but I hit upon most of the biggies that come to mind. Not all sites are equal so I recommend driving down there and write down the sites that you'd prefer. Even the worst sites are good but there are many that are much more isolated and private. It's also not far from town so if and when you forget something you're a short car ride away from the store.

Great place. If you are able to camp with someone who is an employee at Excel take advantage of it. Sites are large and run very well.

The campsites we had were awesome! Spacious but also lots of trees. The pool was perfectly refreshing on a hot day, but didn’t enjoy many of the other campers. I’ve been to lots of campgrounds and this one is pretty special... had everything I like in a campground.

The Oaks is the best place to camp! Each site is clean, has large fire pit, electric, and h2o hookups. Most sites can accommodate multiple campers. Management is super friendly. $5dump station on the way out. Pool is well maintained and warm. Pet friendly.
