The HOA is a rip off and control your every move. I am trying to sell my house and get out of here, but no one wants to buy in this awful place.

Beautiful lake. Unfortunately, like others have said, the neighborhood association is out of control. Dues are high and you get nothing for them. The water system was owned by the PLE Neighborhood association at time and you received water for your dues, but they sold it off to Aqua. They recently raised dues, doubled late fees, and added new fines. There are two sets of rules, one for the people on the board and their friends and the second for everyone else. They have ridiculous rules and are constantly adding to them and a neighborhood association that is unresponsive to all members concerns. They just added 20 more violations for 2021 with bigger fines. They literally have a list of about 50 traffic and criminal violations, which is enforced by security guards. The PLE fails to properly supervise employees and it makes it miserable to be there. The neighborhood association knowingly allows security guards to have red and blue visor lights while driving their personal vehicles to pull people over. Obviously this is illegal, but this is what goes on at this lake. Neighborhood association security guards have cursed at me and called me names for merely questioning there actions.. After filing complaints, nothing was done by anyone on the board and the board member in charge of security, actually told me I should behave. Board members and staff are outright ignorant, when I have been forced to deal with them on nearly ever occasion. To be fair, I have owned property there for approx. 9 years and had no problems until around 2017, when a Philadelphia women was murdered and her body was found on a property on East Shore Drive. Around that time, they hired additional security guards who believe they are police officers and harass you every chance they have. I have seen one guard sitting in his vehicle on several occasions with binoculars across from the beach, getting close up views of women in their bathing suits. They will also sit in front of your house for extended periods of time for no reason. So if you like privacy, don't want to be harassed, and don't want to be gawked at by creepy security guards, I would think long and hard before purchasing here.
