Awesome experience and great narration through the ride, we learned a lot about Abilene, and railroad history.

I rode the train for a business get-together. The guys were really kind.

Two hour train trip originating from historic Abilene. Fun!

Yes we have dinner trains, check the website for the schedule. Www.asvrr.org
The train travels 5 miles to Enterprise, KS where a 20 minute stop is made to visit a replica flour mill and then returns to Abilene. A bridge crossing the Smoky Hill River is also a highlight. The trip took about 2 hours total.
$16 for 12 and older and $8 for ages 3-11. 2 and younger are free.
An hour
Greg so does that mean you can bring beer or whiskey with you on trainGreg so you can bring your own beverage aboard
I have never been on the dinner train. The afternoon ride I took was about 1 hour. Started at the depot in Abilene.
Only service dogs are allowed due to the fact we have had some dogs get very agitated because of the movement and noise of the train.
There is an old wooden car that they use for a diner part-time that's air-conditioned. Behind it they have a couple open cars with a concrete floor, and chairs and picnic tables. A lot of times people will ride half the ride outside and then switch to the inside which is air conditioned on the way back. I hadn't ridden on it for a while; it used to be that they had someone narrate the trip through loudspeakers for half of the ride. Now, apparently, as happened on my last ride, they speak for the whole time. Unfortunately this makes it hard to have conversations or hear anything else. You may not find this annoying but I did, as did the rest of the people with me.
In the early 70s I think. Now it's just for track crews
