I walked in and wanted to order 2 “combination plates” with meat, fried rice and egg roll. Rather than telling me they don’t do that, the guy at the counter rang up two entrees, two quarts of rice (got veg instead of pork) and two orders of egg rolls. 80 bucks for two meals. Rather than try to send it back, I figured I would eat general Taos for days. Got home and the food was mediocre. I would not go back even if the order went right.

I was disappointed at the clay pot dish. And the basil chicken has too much veggies in it, not a good amount of chicken. Other than that it's all good!

Very good food and service. I eat there at least once per week. I'm a high-end, Chinese food addict. This resteraunt is in the top 5 in the State of California - including the best that China Town in San Francisco has to offer. The fried rice is simply outstanding - delicate and flavorful - made with Jasmine rice. The appetizers are outstanding and the main courses are perfectly cooked with crispy vegetables. The helpings are generous and the service is quick and staged. I highly recommend the China Gourmet! 🍴💗
