How can I get to Van Nyus in the morning
x D
Out of the way and is a 5-10 minute walk to the nearest bus stop even though the station has a bus stop that is not serviced. Has no more than 30 parking spaces. The one ticket machine here has been out of service for over a week. Therefore you should purchase tickets on your phone or or online. Also Uber and Lyft service can be spotty, with none showing up at times. Best way to get around is to either be picked up by a friend or a taxi or by bringing a bicycle with you on the train which is free. Still beats driving here from Los Angeles or Orange County congestion & traffic. This time the train to San Luis Obispo was late by 30 minutes and the train towards Los Angeles & San Diego was late about 5 minutes. Also there are restrooms, water fountains, and bicycle lockers here. Always check the status of your train to see if it’s late on the Amtrak app. Crossing signals have also been malfunctioning for at least 2 weeks now causing the trains to cross every crossing in Santa Barbara County and San Luis Obispo County at 20 MPH or less, causing delays of up to 30 minutes while Union Pacific works on the problem.

Way, way, way too many train whistles at night. Way, way, way. Far too many. They are loud and they make it difficult to sleep. Very diificult.

A bare-bones Amtrak station serving Goleta and UCSB. The location in the industrial zone does not look quite attractive, but is not too far from the Old Town Goleta or UCSB. You can take Uber/Lyft (or walk from Hollister & La Patera bus stop), but better yet, it is within an easy bicycling distance from the town or UCSB. There are limited number of bike racks on Pacific Surfliner trains (advance reservation required), and you can bring a folding bike onto the train freely. Too bad about the reduced service due to the pandemic -- looking forward to visiting back and using this station again!
