Mont Rest Bed & Breakfast

This B&B was decorated with period correct furniture, antiques and art. Walking through each room was like taking a trip back in time. Imagining what it would be like to live a long gone era so different from today was not very difficult, making the evening an enjoyable escape from the harsh realities of today's world. My only disappointments with the B&B were; our room was not actually in the original house, but in an addition that looked like a steamboat docked at the rear of the painted lady. Additionally, the room smelled musty upon entering, each and every time we returned to the room our olfactory senses were assaulted by the musty/moldy onslaught. We opted for the Murder Mystery, which was a hoot! Rebecca was our guide and she was delightful. During the evening the cook introduced herself but prefaced her introduction by apologizing that she was the "B team." This set our expectations as Dinner 🍽 was actually a huge disappointment. My wife's chicken aka "game hen' was decidedly undercooked. My New York strip was terribly tough to cut, and extremely chewy. When the cook asked how the steak was I honestly told her and she failed or neglected to offer a remedy 😫! Ultimately, I found the steak to be entirely too much work, the sawing and gnawing through the tough sinews was exhausting, so it was brought home to my dog who probably would have given the steak a more favorable review. Breakfast on the other hand was delicious and very enjoyable! Overall we survived the experience and it was within acceptable limits, but, the bits noted above are sufficient reason to where I would not return and in good conscience recommend the Mont Rest Bed and Breakfast.

This was a great weekend and nothing disappointing from the time we stepped onto the property. The food with the wine paired dinner was outstanding. Best steak I have ever had. The woman working here go over and above to make sure their guest are pleased. A+ All around.

omg! if there were 10 stars, we'd give them 10 out of 10.. they were amazing.. the 3 main women take very excellent care of the bed and breakfast.. all are married with children.. they live off site,but always someone there most of the time.. coffee starts right at 730a.. breakfast is served at 9a.. served family style unless you prefer a private table.. I have immune system and other health concerns, so we were at a separate table for our breakfasts and I bought a special private romantic dinner just for us.. ur free to come and go, but if ur eating breakfast it's respectful to be early or on time.. that applies to if you've paid for a murder mystery dinner, a midnight in Paris dinner , or the romantic private dinner for 2.. they are outstanding at accommodations, services they provide, and hosts to the dinners.. they give daily tours for 5 bucks a person.. and believe me, you want a private tour.. the chef, who is part owner, is extremely knowledgeable, a very well self taught chef, and ready to help with any allergies, food dislikes, and so on.. she always has options available for the guests.. guest get to choose from 1 of 13 themed rooms on site, in at least 2 weeks advance or more, and if available.. and each room comes with a key to lock the door as you see fit.. and the possibilities go on and on... they are completely 100 percent outstanding in EVERYTHING AND ANYTHING.. FYI, it's always good to tip before you lease the site.. we googled it to ask and it said it was undeed the correct thing to do, plus if they have valet or room services, then u would tip each of those separately, but they. did not here.. so what we did was we bought 4 cards for each person that helped us through the weekend and tipped accordingly to each.. again this was amazingly awesome.. it was our fist and WE WILL DEFINITELY BE RETURNING IN THE FUTURE..

This gets five stars not because I was so impressed with this old home. Not because I thought the furniture was old and actual vintage and still well maintained. No, not for the wonderfull staff that was friendly and very welcoming. Not because I found the family style seating of breakfast, while a little wierd at first, to be great. (I think the lovely people sitting across from us was the key.) Not because the breakfast was awesome. It is because my wife loved it, not just a little. She was blown away by the beautiful antiques, the rooms and the service. I liked it, but I love my wife and it made her birthday special... so I loved it as well.
