The Piper's Restaurant and Tavern

My co-worker suggested this restaurant, saying her family had frequented it for years. My husband and I decided, instead of going to our favorite Italian restaurant across the street, we'd try out The Piper's Restaurant and Tavern. It was a Tues night just before the dinner hour. As we entered, a few people were sitting at the bar and one couple in a booth on the wall; otherwise, it was empty. The hostess seated us in the middle of the restaurant where all traffic would be coming/going as the restaurant began filling for dinner. When the server came over to take our drink orders, we asked if we could be seated in a quiet booth. She moved us, but as I looked up at the waitress, I was just in time to see her make a scowl to the hostess. We thought it odd that she would scowl since the place was fairly empty at that time. This waitress seemed to tolerate us for the rest of the time we were there. The food was "okay", but nothing I need to have again. We both had the Grouper Oreganata- it had clearly been frozen, but the lemon butter sauce made it more palatable. We tipped the waiter well but won't be back in the future. Sometimes a good atmosphere and good service can cover up the negatives, making one want to frequent again; also, the opposite can hold true when service and atmosphere are poor.

Great food. Nice front and rear decks. Nice ambiance!

Meh. Our waitress and other staff members were very kind. We aren’t super picky but neither of us really liked our food, probably wouldn’t eat here again.
