I'm an experienced player and have dealt with several luthier shops over the course of my 10+ years of playing. I do not trust my expensive violin in the hands of the luthier(s) here (I think Dustin is the only luthier, not sure). In one of my first visits, I went in asking ONLY for *information* about whether a soundpost adjustment would solve some of my initial questions. Since I made the mistake of having my instrument out while I was talking about this, Dustin already picked it up and had started adjusting it; I had to quickly clarify that I was not looking for an adjustment that day but the changes had already been made. I was disappointed to hear my instrument sound noticeably different when I got home. I made the mistake of hoping that this was a one-time mistake and I went back a couple months later to ask for a simple E string change. Dustin loosened my E string so quickly that he snapped my E string, which also caused the soundpost to fall. I have never witnessed this happening ever in my life. The only reason I am rating this 2 stars instead of one is because he did offer me a free E string replacement, but I would consider that the bare minimum. My violin did not sound the same once he replaced it. I've also noticed significant damage to my varnish since this last visit, to the point where the wood underneath my E string fine tuner is exposed. I can't say with certainty that this was due to how my violin was handled while my E string was being changed but I have not been at ease while Dustin was handling my instrument in the past. I had issues as well with the staff who are not luthiers being minimally knowledgeable about the products they sell. I asked a worker a simple question about how a certain line of strings tends to sound, and she was unable to answer. I asked another worker who was a violinist about the different chin rests the shop carried and she was similarly unable to answer beyond giving me different chin rests to try for myself. Maybe the purpose of this shop is not to offer personal consultations like that, but then I would just buy my stuff online. I'm used to dealing with violin shops where the staff are able to offer at least initial guidance on what might be suitable for my instrument and playing style.

Killer shop- knowledgeable & approachable. Came in to buy a bass & was reccomened renting first, with my rental payments going towards purchasing the bass (in the first year). This let me make sure I liked what I was buying & I didn't have to gamble with a ton of money that I would love my product. Will come back for sure.

They helped us set up a cello in a non traditional way. They were great. If we have to by a new instrument this will be our first stop.

The premier violin sales and repair shop in Nashville. Great service, very reasonable prices.

Not really an average, more of a range - from $525 to $20,000.
They request that you wash your hands upon entering and wear a face mask.
They offer lessons for absolute beginners. All ages.
There are new and old instruments. Instruments generally appreciate with age and being played-- this is called "opening the sound". Any instrument there, new or old, has been inspected thoroughly to be sure it is in good working order.
