My electric use was $150. But volunteer energy charges an extra $98 just for being a supplier. I don't get it. Seems like they just get free money

I echo last reviewers review, is this is even a real company? No one answers the phone and no one was at address the office is listed at when I drove to voice my complaint about enrolling me without a letter and over charging me. This was middle of a week day. I went to report them on BBB, but it appears it's been revoked. I'm going to report them to PUCO as I believe they have violated many laws and are trying to cover them up. They may have already gone out of business which would make sense. If not BEWARE, you've been warned.

I find it hard to believe this is a real company? Phone rings and rings and when someone does answer, they have no idea what's going on. Complete joke. Steer clear from doing any business with this fraud of a company.

Questions & Answers

I received a post card about switching natural gas suppliers. How is this possible and what does it mean?

If you signed up directly for gas from Volunteer Energy, you will get this postcard. If you do not believe you signed up with Volunteer Energy, you are most likely part of a community aggregation program. Community aggregations enable local governments to negotiate on behalf of their community for the best natural gas or electricity rate. All of these programs must be voted on and passed by a majority of voters in a general election. You also should have received multiple communication pieces from both your local government and Volunteer Energy about the change. Most of these programs are “opt-out”, where you are automatically enrolled unless you choose to opt out. Every eligible resident was mailed a letter with an included opt-out form prior to the effective date of the program. You can also call 800-977-8374 to speak directly with a Volunteer Energy representative to opt out or have any questions answered.

If I choose Volunteer Energy for my natural gas supply, do I need to call my utility company to let them know?
