I have been a fan of this place since its inception and have basically stuck to my favorites: the crepe, the dumplings, spicy tonkostu & spicy beef soup. today deviated from the norm and went with the chicken banh mi and it was excellent. Lucky to have authentic (with a chefs personal twist) south eastern Asian food in a rural town.

Food is consistently great but Steam is experiencing some unfortunate growing pains after moving to their new space, including extremely slow service. Make sure to budget extra time when ordering.

My wife and I had an absolutely fantastic dinner here. The decor and aesthetic of the restaurant is lovely, prices are reasonable, the service friendly and attentive, and the food- unbelievably good. We had the steamed buns (fantastic), the vegan gyoza (some of the best we have ever had), and the Tonkotsu ramen with seasoned egg and crispy ramen noodles. This ramen is just incredible! The plating was beautiful, the ingredients fresh and vibrant, and the seasoning was perfect. It wasn’t too salty or fatty- it was all flavorful and felt light. We loved it so much we took a bowl to go for lunch the next day. I can’t recommend this place enough! We will definitely be coming back with friends the next time we visit Great Barrington.

The worst food I ever ordered. The Miso Ramen is just water and soy sauce, the noodle is over cooked and instant noodle is better than this one. The tofu spring roll is disgusting. If I can give 0 rating I will give.

STEAM is currently takeout only, and customers do not enter the restaurant at all. All our staff wear masks and maintain distance from each other and customers as much as practical. Staff do not come to work when ill or if potentially exposed to someone with COVID-19. Surfaces are cleaned and sanitized regularly. Customers should be masked when they interact with staff through our doorway; they can order, pay, and pick up from the hallway. Customers are encouraged to call in their takeout orders and can choose to pay over the phone to further minimize potential exposure while waiting in the public hallway, particularly if they are at higher risk or do not/cannot wear a mask for any reason.
STEAM is closed on Wednesdays and Thursdays. The rest of the week we open at 11 am.
