Easy hiking, beautiful scenery along the stream. Road into the area is rough, SUV or truck recommended.

While it doesn’t compare to the waterfalls of the Poconos, Stepstone Falls is probably the most beautiful natural waterfall in Rhode Island. While there isn’t much vertical drop, the falls go on for a considerable distance. The gentle slope of some of the large rocks that the falls roll over allow you to really get up close, especially if you willing to get your feet wet. As with all waterfalls, the best time to see Stepstone Falls at the height of its power would be spring or early summer, especially right after a storm. However, the other seasons are just as beautiful for other reasons. The trails around the falls run through some pretty dense forest, so autumn brings a beautiful array of colors. Winter here may not be for everyone, but the peacefulness is hard to beat. If you’re hiking, be sure to bring food shoes and to watch your step, as there are a ton of rocks, roots, and watery areas you’ll need to watch out for. I enjoy parking at the Ben Utter trailhead and walking out to the falls and back, but you can drive directly up to the falls if you’re looking for a shorter trip. Either way, you’ll have to drive along a pretty rough dirt road and parking can be tough, especially on nice days. The area is popular with hunters, so make sure to wear orange in season. In my opinion, everyone in RI should make a trip to Stepstone Falls at least once. Arcadia is huge and has so much to offer, but this might take the cake.

Step Stone Falls is a small but picturesque place to visit. The best time to go there is springtime when there has been snow melt or significant rain fall. You can drive right up to the falls if you have a larger car, van or pickup truck . The road is dirt and not maintained so there are some deep potholes and ruts to navigate around or over so make sure your vehicle has plenty of clearance. Over all it's worth a visit.

The road to get there is dirt and pretty rugged. The place is beautiful, the trail is a bit muddy in spots and they ask that hikers and dogs wear orange vests during hunting season.

Not a place to swim per say. More like a place to get your feet wet. Not much hiking trails I could see.. best place I can think of is ,beach pond. Plenty of places to do both..
