Mary, Thank for reaching out to us. Looking over your request I do have a couple of questions to ask, so we can come up with the best solution for you. What is the full amp draw of the motor and will there be an electrician doing the work for you? The reason I ask is because normally if a motor is requiring a 20amp outlet, it is pulling at a larger load and the circuit it is on would need to be rated up to 20amps. If that is the case, you will need a new circuit breaker and a larger gauge wire. Standard 15 amp outlets are normally on 14 gauge wire and on a 15 amp circuit breaker. When it comes to 20 amp outlets they are normally on 12 gauge wire and 20 amp circuit breakers. If you were to just change the breaker and outlet but not the wire, you could potentially cause a fire. That’s why knowing what the actual draw is of the motor is very important and I wanted you to be aware of this. When you can please let us and we would love to be able to help you any way we can.
