Today I was seen by Dr. Kristina Perez. Though the wait was a little long today I approached really appreciate her taking the time to really listen to what was going on. She is definitely a hoot! So nice to have someone bring some humor to the room instead a stale approach. Though she apologized for her bed side manner I thought it was great! I love to know that my doctor is human too. She even showed me some additional ways to help at home to relief some of the pain/pressure that I never thought would be a thing. It always feels nice when you don’t feel good and your doctor takes the time to really listen to you and make your feelings valid. Usually I expect this type of care from a nurse practitioner. Wish I could have her for my primary.

What types of COVID-19 testing does MedExpress offer?

MedExpress Urgent Care | Oct 8, 2021
MedExpress Urgent Care | Oct 8, 2021

MedExpress is offering COVID-19 evaluations and testing at designated centers to help support our local communities' health care needs amid the pandemic. In order to ensure individuals receive the highest-quality care and treatment, all individuals seeking care at MedExpress for known or suspected COVID-19 cases will receive an examination by a MedExpress health care professional who will determine if testing is needed and which testing method may be most appropriate, including rapid antigen and laboratory send-out PCR COVID-19 testing. Please note that for the most accurate COVID-19 test results, the CDC and the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) recommend that individuals who are not showing symptoms, but who have had close contact with an individual who has tested positively for COVID-19, wait five to seven days after the known exposure to get a COVID-19 test. Additionally, the CDC and AAFP recommend self-quarantining for 14 days after a known exposure to COVID-19, even if no symptoms are present.

How much is the rapid test for covid and how long before you can get the results?

Mica S. | Oct 8, 2021
MedExpress Urgent Care | Oct 8, 2021

Hi Mica -- MedExpress is currently offering rapid and laboratory send-out COVID-19 tests for a known or suspected exposure to COVID-19. The type of test administered is determined by our providers after a medical evaluation and is based upon CDC recommendations and considerations, the type and duration of symptoms, and other criteria which can be found at https://www.medexpress.com/covid19.html. If you are administered a rapid test, results will be communicated during the visit. If the results are negative, we may recommend sending out a COVID-19 lab test and asking the patient to quarantine until their results are available. When you visit MedExpress for COVID-19 testing, we will collect your co-pay and bill your insurance for the medical evaluation and treatment received from our medical providers. The COVID-19 test is an additional cost. Additional information can be found on our website.

How much do you charge for a covid-19 test? How long does it take to get the results?

Lex Rieffel | Oct 8, 2021
MedExpress Urgent Care | Oct 8, 2021

Many health insurance companies across the country have stated that they will cover the cost of testing for COVID-19. However, it is a good idea to check with your insurance company to learn if it covers the test and what portion of treatment may be covered based on the specifics of your individual health plan. For those without insurance, self-pay services for the medical evaluation and treatment received from our medical providers start $129 in Virginia centers. This price does not include any fees incurred by our lab partner, LabCorp. Timing may vary depending on the volume of tests being performed by our commercial lab partner, but, at this time, it currently takes around 3-7 days for patients to get results.
