Sherman delivered the Emancipation Proclamation here and promised 40 acres and a mule that the Federal Govt would not ultimately honor. MLK gave portions of his "I have a dream speech" a Century later and shortly before delivering the same on theall in DC.

Finally read got to see where GEN Sherman read Special Field Order No 15. Although mules are not mentioned in the orders, they were a main source for the expression "forty acres and a mule."

I have never inquired about the history of persons who attended the church but I am sure that they would be happy to share any information they may have regarding historical figures they may have records of.
I am not sure, never been there on a Sunday. Only go there for Brown Bag, sorry couldn't help.
