Chip and his crew just finished up redoing the entirety of the floors in our new house. We are blown away by how amazing they turned out. Our project was converting the color from Honey oak to a dark brown. The color is consistent throughout the house and there isn’t one complaint we have with the job they did. He and his crew were also outstanding, keeping the house as clean as possible for the duration of the project. In addition, to bring clean and doing exceptional work every one was friendly and respectful of our home. Their attention to details on small things like thresholds and vent covers were over the top. I cannot give enough accolades to Auten Flooring and the work they did in our house. They were referred to us and we will be referring them to everyone we know who is redoing their floors.

While we prefer solid wood flooring, engineered wood flooring has its merits. It depends on the type of subfloor you have, your design ideas, how often you might want to refinish the floor, and ultimately your budget. Engineered Wood Flooring has a layer of real wood on top of plywood. It is often preferred in homes that have concrete subfloors. Most of the time It is slightly less expensive but can cost more when building a custom Engineered Plank. Solid hardwood gives you more options. If you want the ability to refinish your Wood Floor multiple times then solid Wood is the better option. There are tons of products on the market today that the actual wood veneer is so thin you could compare it to the thickness of wall paper. These Floors can never be refinished. Why are people pushing it? The common sales pitch today is “stability” or “won’t cupp”. The truth is Manufacturer profit. They need less real wood to cover the same square footage of an area therefore more profit.
