Operations are so bad here. Everyone is miserable. You’ll wait hours to be seen. I’d say go to a competitor, but it’s a monopoly, which explains the experience.

I just had my first major surgery and hospitalization ever. *Every* one of the many people who took care of me was kind and considerate. The surgeon, Dr. Shukla, is outstanding. The nurses Pam and Kim and the assistants in the ward were terrific. I was released a day earlier than expected. I could quibble about minor things, but overall I feel I was very well cared for.

At about 2:30 am, the morning of Monday Aug 22, my wife drove me to the emergency room in Mt. Kisco because of excruciating pain I was experiencing that was radiating down my right arm. I was in a cold sweat and the pain was the worst I had ever experienced. Upon entering emergency, someone took my blood pressure and pulse, asked me a few questions then escorted my wife and I to an examination room. Immediately, another person came in and asked a few more questions including the level of pain I was experiencing. I told her that the pain level was unbearable and a 9 on their scale of 1 to 10. She then said a nurse or a doctor would be "right in" to help me. I waited as patiently as possible but the pain was overwhelming. My wife called out for help several times but was repeatedly told that someone would be in to see me when available. It didn't appear busy and I didn't hear or see another patient. The minutes felt like days and after nearly 2 1/2 hours, no one had even come by to check on me. I typically have a good tolerance for pain and having had a total shoulder replacement, total knee replacement, broken ribs and bouts with sciatica through the years, extreme discomfort was not new to me. The pain I had told them was similar to sciatica but much more intense and there was no position I could maneuver to that helped. Desperate to be examined, my wife and I walked out of the emergency room and drove to my primary care physician's parking lot. It was approximately 5:30-6:00 am by then and I was still in extreme pain. At around 7:00am , my doctor and staff arrived and I told them about my ordeal. My doctor agreed to see me immediately. His examination indicated a likely nerve issue. He referred me to an orthopedic surgeon and started me on a steroid medication to help relieve the inflammation and pain. After x-rays and an MRI, it turned out that I had a severely herniated disc in my neck for which I am currently being treated and may have to undergo surgery. I'm still not sure what the issues were that contributed to the apathetic and insensitive behavior of the attending physician/staff but I am sure that no one contacted me afterward (they had my phone #) to see what had happened My wife and I left because we were given no indication that I would ever be examined. If I could give this emergency room a negative review, I would. As with other negative reviewers about this emergency room, I'll probably be told to contact a patient advocate. It's a little late for that. However, I do plan on contacting the NYSDOH and HHS. Given that the overwhelming majority of "emergency room" Google reviews for this hospital are similarly critical, I'm hopeful that some type of investigation/disciplinary action is initiated.

My daughter delivered her first baby there in July 2022 and it was a terrible experience for her. Not enough staff and space. They gave her a peripheral nerve block anesthesia instead of epidural for vaginal birth. Barely visited by nurses and no lactation specialist. She was sent home with a headache and could not sit up to nurse her newborn. Her snd her husband were first time.parents. She and child had to be readmitted after they discharged her because she could not sit up and baby lost too much weight. First time parents and it was nightmare!!

Hi Don. If you mean a “knee replacement”, yes--all our MRI units can scan knee replacements. Some physicians specifically want to use MARS (metallic artifact reduction software), which is a software currently not on the MRI machine at NWH. Please feel free to contact Radiology at NWH, 914-666-1371 with any questions.
Radiology hours are 8am to 4pm Monday through Friday.
Business hours. Family can go anytime. Just insist.
