I absolutely love DD Bartels Which is now a different name I guess. The kayaking is nice but only on a calm day! If you can get around the bend and Kayak on Eagan's Creek early in the morning, you'll have a great experience.

Yes you can walk to the fort from the bartell's You're sort of bypassing fort clinch entry but you go past the campgrounds and just beyond it is the fort.
