As someone who works in human services, it's realistic that periodically people will disagree with the way organizations function, or the tough decisions that need to be made in any setting. Constructive criticism is a welcome reminder that we don't have all the answers and can push ourselves to provide better services to our friends and neighbors. And as with all things, you simply cannot make everyone happy. We strive, as a small team with limited means, to be the best professional versions of ourselves that we can be. It is my hope that the countless residents and larger families/communities impacted by the lives served at Clare House remember that every social worker, administrator, director, manager, and volunteer is on this human journey too; Learning everyday how to do better, and be better. We can take the lumps, we're pretty tough. And no matter what, we'll keep moving the needle closer to a community where our mission and vision have been realized.

I know about this place, but don't know it personally. However, how can someone give them 1 star and not leave a review? That's ridiculous.

Hello Darrin, thank you for your question. Yes, we serve women and their children, including male children up to age 18. However, adult males and male visitors are prohibited for the safety of residents.
18 years old and younger with a parent.
The wish list is on the website, under the donations tab. It's updated regularly to keep it accurate to the needs of the families in residency.
Not sure what you mean by "personal things", but we do accept specific in-kind donations of cleaning supplies, home goods, hygiene supplies and other items. Since storage space is limited, we request only donations of items our families use. That last can be found on our website under the "Donations" tab. Thank you!
