My mother had been struggling with her hearing for a few years, but it wasn't until recently that even she acknowledged that it was becoming a major concern. I happened upon the Hearing Center of Long Island and gave them a call. I spoke with Sandy and immediately I knew that I had found the right place to help my mom. Dr. Lazzaro is highly skilled, patient, kind and warm and helped to put any fears Mom had to rest. The team has been absolutely wonderful and a model example of not only how care should be given to anyone afflicted with hearing issues, but also how health professionals should always treat people seeking aid. Dr.Cardano is a serious, skilled and conscientious Doctor of Audiology, very dedicated to helping you hear better and along with his staff, tries to fit you with the best most high tech device that you will be able to benefit from. When you ask about "invisible" hearing aids, you are using a marketing word that refers to entirely in the ear devices. I have never tried those, because the latest behind the ear units are so much more sophisticated while still really unnoticeable. They really are micro computer sound shapers and processors as well as being powerful amplifiers. But in order to really help you, they need to be custom configured using not only computer fitting software but the tremendous number of response parameters must be adjusted by someone highly trained in the science of sound, how all parts of our hearing systems respond to sound, real world situations, and our brain's interpretation of those sounds. Others I tried, either did not know, or could not care!
