In reading the reviews most were from a while back so let me share my recent one . My mom is 93 and is in the Gurwin Holtsville Rehabilitation /Nursing center. Although no experience in any facility is ever perfect we are very happy with this place and I highly recommend it. Let me say that I can compare since my mom was first in a facility in Woodbury that was very horrible . Bringing my mom to Gurwin Holtsville was like an answer to our prayers . There is a very clean pleasant atmosphere. The staff are so nice and caring and on the ball . I have never seen any staff member be anything but kind and professional to the residents. And you never see patients sitting in wheelchairs around the nurses desk like other facilities I have been to . Instead they have a spot there like a nice waiting area with a big screen TV where they can watch them and still give them dignity . No facility food is going to be gourmet but honestly i tasted it and it’s not bad the teriyaki salmon is actually quite good. I am eagerly awaiting the day when New York State lifts their unnecessary restrictions on these facilities so the residents can get back to community events as these make a huge difference in their quality of life .

Number 1 and most important… this place is covid central. Second , they do NOT care about their employees, they are HORRIBLE & dangerous for employees to do their job. They refuse to put in an AC & I know a girl who almost passed out. I also heard that one of the nurses “accidentally” gave a patient too much meds and killed her. Please do your self a favor don’t take your relative here !!

Took care of a loved one in their rehabilitation center. It started out fine but between their COVID restrictions, shuffling of staff in my loved ones case, and basically pushing my loved one out without much help, it went from fine to bad. Definitely not happy with their efforts to help our family. Goals not met and it really appears like they’re pushing their patient out than helping them and their families. Do not recommend their rehab facility.

Hello Virginia. Thank you for contacting us. Catholic Mass is scheduled on Gurwin's internal Channel 3 on Sunday mornings at 9am.
We have an on-site dialysis center as well as an Infusion Therapy suite that is open to the Long Island community.
Thanks for reaching out to us, Sally. Gurwin has two award-winning daytime programs for people with dementia. Our social adult day care program provides a structured, active and friendly environment where participants with Alzheimer's Disease and other dementias can flourish. The medical adult day care model provides not only the social activities associated with most senior programs, but also the medical/nursing and rehabilitation services ordered by a physician that helps participants remain living in their own homes. Call (631) 715-2520 to schedule a tour and to receive more information about our caring and compassionate programs that have been named "Best of Long Island" for four consecutive years.

I tried to transfer my mom for a month and I would call three times a week and they told me they were reviewing the paperwork. I even asked at one point to you have have the common curtesy to just say “no” and they said they do but that they were still reviewing. Needless to say here we are five weeks into requesting approval for my mom into their facility for short term rehab and I have still not gotten an answer. Happy to say mom will be home in a few days so we don’t need Gurwin anymore.
On-site dialysis is available for residents as well as the community. Their direct number is 631-715-2740.
